Best German Blogs

I wanted to collect a couple of interesting blogs and resources about the German language that you may find interesting as they have content that are either useful about the German articles or about learning German in general!

1. Der-Artikel Blog

This is specifically focused on articles and their rules. This page is in German and it has a wealth of information about everything related to German gender. What I especially like is that you have a tool where you can look up the correct article of a noun and even practice guessing the right article out of der die das!

2. SmartGerman

A real language pro created this German blog and e-learning platform, Michael Schmitz, who has 24 years of experience as a tutor. He studied 15 languages (mostly to A1, some to B1), but he is a real pro in teaching German.

The site offers very professional online German courses starting from A1 and up to C1. The online courses offer a variety of techniques for every learning style. You can learn at your own pace without unnecessary competition. Michael also provides private coaching.

3. Study German Online

Steffie, a passionate German teacher, has created an incredibly helpful and free German blog. It covers various topics, from mastering German grammar, such as adjectives and special characters, to correctly using articles like der, die, and das. She also delves into cultural topics, offering insights into German traditions like Easter and Valentine’s Day.

In addition to her blog, Steffie offers private lessons and small group classes that are great value for money. Her students appreciate her practical teaching style, which helps them easily apply their language skills in everyday situations.

4. German with Laura

Laura is one of the most popular teachers out there, some of her videos were viewed over 2 million times and her Youtube channel has almost 150’000 subscribers, she also has some great videos about the correct use of German articles. Her blog germanwithlaura.com has a wealth of resources about various topics covering verbs, adjectives, adverbs.

One of her key products is German Foundations, which is an online program helping you understand the grammar that popular apps like Duolingo or Babbel don’t offer. You can start for free. It is trusted by thousands of German learners in more than 100 countries.
